The company is aiming to launch its own digital wallet, Uber cash, this week and make it available in Africa.
San Francisco-Uber, the California-based American International transportation network company, will launch its own digital wallet, Uber Cash. So far, everything is normal, but what’s interesting is that Uber has not received support from MoneyGram, the remittance company that it recently partnered with for the project.
The biggest factor in Uber’s preference for Flutterwave is its targeting of the African market. Indeed, Flutterwave is a South African fintech company and the perfect fit for Uber Cash, which Uber aims to roll out in Africa.
However, Flutterwave has more than ten partners in Africa. Through the partnership between the duo, Uber drivers will be able to use Uber cash and Uber wallets. Uber customers will be able to use their Uber wallets in many countries where they travel, according to the authorities, thanks to the multinational partnerships in question. As well as Uber Cash, it will also be able to receive cash payments from the Visa-powered Barter app previously released by Flutterwave.
