A major health insurance company in Switzerland will begin accepting payments from insurance owners, made through Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH).
Atupri Health Insurance is partnering with crypto financial services company Bitcoin Suisse to allow 200,000 customers to pay with Bitcoin and Ether, according to the August 31 announcement. Bern-based atupri will receive Bitcoin and Ether payments converted by Bitcoin Suisse in Swiss francs instead of storing the digital assets itself. The insurance company, which has annual sales of about $887 million as of 2019, will also receive payments from its customers for mining-related fees.
“As digital pioneers of the healthcare industry, we anticipate social trends and offer insurance solutions with long-term potential,” said Caroline Meli, marketing and sales manager at Atupri.
Bitcoin Suisse offers retention services to assets in excess of $1 billion. The company began offering retention support and stake services for Tezos (XTZ) in May, adding gold, silver, and platinum to its trading platform.
